New Zealand remains at red

All of New Zealand will remain at Red. The next review of the traffic light settings will be next week, Thursday 14 April.

While case numbers are dropping in some parts of the country, other regions are not yet in the same position. With the Omicron wave still moving down the country, it’s important to manage the pressure on healthcare nationally to help the system recover and be ready in case of a winter surge.

While we remain at Red, some restrictions will lift from 11.59pm tonight. Vaccine Passes will no longer be required and Government vaccine mandates for all sectors except health and disability workers, prison staff, and border workers will no longer be in place.

Businesses will still be able to use Vaccines Passes if they choose to.

At Red:

- There are no outdoor capacity limits

- Indoor gathering limits are set at 200 people

- Face masks are required in most indoor settings
