WHAT WOULD I USE MICRONEEDLING FOR?

HOW DOES MICRONEEDLING WORK?

Microneedling is a minimally invasive collagen inducing procedure involving small needles over the skin’s surface. The microneedles puncture the skin and create tiny micro-injuries that are not visible to the eye. These tiny punctures stimulate tissue regeneration through the process called “collagen induction therapy”  which improves the structure, function and appearance of the skin.

ARE THEN ANY POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS?

Skin pen microneedling procedures are generally very well tolerated with side effects being rare.

The side effects may include:

  • Skin irritation

  • Temporary post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation

  • Bruising

  • Hypersensitivity

  • Persistent redness

  • Reactivation of herpes simplex virus (cold sores)

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER DERMAL NEEDLING?

  • Low-grade redness and swelling for up to 4 days post treatment

  • Slight discomfort subsiding within 24 hours

  • Mild crusting and scabbing for 2-3 days post treatment

  • Short term dryness, tightness, itching and irritation with occasional skin peeling

  • Short term darkening of skin pigmentation followed by lightning
