BASAL CELL CARCINOMA (BCC)

The most common, usually pink and may bleed or itch. BCC's may start as a flat patch or a raised lesion like a pimple. They can grow locally destroying the surrounding tissues. Depending upon the features of this cancer it has different management options ranging from Aldara cream through to Surgery.

Non-melanoma skin cancers (BCC + SCC) account for 80% of all new cancer diagnoses in New Zealand each year.
