This is a substance which occurs naturally in the body, is gentle to the skin, and actually helps to hydrate. Our clinic uses a new filler which contains anesthetic, to minimize discomfort, and results in very little downtime. The results are instantly visible, and can last 6-12 months.

Platelet activation plays a key role in the process of wound and soft tissue healing. The use of platelet rich plasma (PRP) promotes healing of injured tendons, ligaments, muscles, and joins, can be applied to various musculoskeletal problems.
It was used as early as the 1990s in maxillo-facial and plastic surgery. PRP injections are prepared from one to a few tubes of the patient’s own blood with strict aseptic technique. After being centrifuged, the activated platelets are injected into the abnormal tissue, releasing growth factors that recruit and increase the proliferation of reparative cells. Ultrasound imaging may or may not be used to guide the injection.
Several clinical studies have demonstrated that PRP injections have improved function and decreased pain to various maladies, including - but not limited to - elbow, wrist, shoulder, hip, knee, and ankle tendonosis. Early work is also showing promise for osteoarthritis.
The side effects of PRP injections are very limited as the patient is utilizing their own blood, which they should have no reaction to. Some relative rest is needed immediately following the procedure, then usually followed by a progressive stretching and strengthening program.
Known as the ‘Vampire facial’, your own blood plasma containing high levels of platelets are injected in to the facial skin to regenerate and revitalize damaged skin, reduce fine lines and improve skin texture.
Direct injections of PRP into the skin supports and helps accelerate the process of tissue regeneration and repair

Arteries carry the blood from the heart to the tissues in the body and the veins carry the blood back to the heart via the lungs. The circulation of the blood from the legs is assisted by contractions of the muscles in the calf and foot, forcing blood back up the veins prevented from refluxing back down by one way valves along the venous networks. There are thousands of kilometres of veins in each leg, obviously most extremely small, and faulty veins whether it be varicose or spider veins can be treated without compromising your circulation, but in fact quite the opposite, removing these faulty veins actually improves your circulation.
We have both deep and superficial venous systems, and when the superficial system fails due to failure of the valves, then blood refluxes or passes back down the superficial veins from the deep venous system. These superficial veins are thin walled and do not handle the pressure, hence get enlarged and tortuous. This increased pressure in the superficial circulation also gives rise to the symptoms that many suffer such as aching, itchy eczema, swelling, muscle cramps and fatigue and heaviness feeling in the legs. The increased pressure also causes damage to the microcirculation this compromising the circulation and blood flow to the tissues, which can proceed in more advanced disease to leg ulcers, loss of fatty tissue (especially ankles) and hard pigmented tender skin.
Causes of varicose veins are genetic predisposition (most common) hormonal factors, excess weight, pregnancy, clots, and occasionally injury to veins.
Diagnosis of varicose veins is easily made in most cases by observation, but in some cases an Ultrasound Examination is required to confirm or make the diagnosis especially when the varicose veins are smaller or more concealed in the fatty tissues.
Treatment of varicose veins is dependent on the anatomy of the veins determined by the ultrasound mapping of the veins. Previously surgical stripping was the preferred method, but these days Ultrasound Gilded Foam Sclerotherapy and or Ablation of the veins (Lasers, Radiofrequency or Venoseal) is the most preferred treatment. It is much simpler, less expensive, less down time, less painful and can be done in a normal procedure room rather than a theatre with overall better success rates and reduced recurrence rates.
Contact us now for a Vein Assessment to determine if you have varicose veins and what treatment is suitable for your veins. We can then explain in detail the treatment and expected outcomes and give you quote for the complete ultrasound mapping, treatment and follow-up. We usually follow up our patients after treatment for 12 months or longer which is included in the fee structure of the initial treatment.
Spider veins are the small networks of tiny veins on the surface of the legs usually less than a millimetre across, but can be very disfiguring and cosmetically undesirable. The definitive cause of these veins is unknown but there is a strong family history usually associated similar to varicose veins. These are more prevalent in women and can affect any part of the leg. These do not require treatment for medical reasons but are unsightly and easily treated with microsclerotherapy. This entails injecting a small volume of sclerosant solution into your veins via a tiny needle, which obliterates or damages the veins resulting in them slowly disappearing over the following weeks.
Distinguishing these veins from varicose veins is done by examination clinically and with the ultrasound to make sure there is no varicose vein component which may need to be treated first as many patients have both varicose and spider veins combined.
Contact us now for an assessment of your spider veins and we can advise you in more detail of the expected cost, procedure and outcome of any treatment.
